Jens Karlsson is graduating form Hyperisland school of new media design in the next little while. Already with a degree from The media program at Lars Kagg, Sweden. he will be heading over to Kioken in New York city for a position as Senior Designer.

The first version of his site Desktop Imperium went online in 98, right after he came up with chapter3.net, and was merely a collection of some his own photoshop experimentations. Having a 'regular' hybrid site with no actual content didn't get him anywhere so creating the imperium came naturally as he was looking for new ways of promoting himself. Then in 99 he started hooking up with other wallpaper creators to build some kind of zine around it. 'The Imperium has still not seen its peak',he says. 'The concept I've always had in mind is far from what you see online today, you can expect a lot more treats in the future'.

When not working on projects for his education or attending classes Jens will most likely be polishing the look of chapter three, making a wallpaper, freelancing or helping James out at threeoh. Or you may find him messin with many of his other interests; boarding, travelling, photography, gaming, jammin and music.

"I'm kinda in love with making wallpapers and probably that's why Desktop Imperium exists. It's all about artistic freedom, no one's there to tell me what to and what not to."

Winner of Spray.se Postcard design challenge 2000.
